I am so glad you are hear!
If we haven’t met yet, I’m Kara Murphy – a longtime drone pilot, photographer, writer, and all-around creative with a deep love for capturing the world from unconventional perspectives. This new corner of the Internet is my personal space to share, teach, and explore things I’ve grown passionate about over the years on my terms. These include, but are not limited to, drones, photography, videography, competitions, and useful apps to enhance your workflow.
Let’s rewind a bit
Armed with a humble Canon Powershot SX, which I was still learning to use, I photographed some headlining artists from the VIP section at Coachella in 2009. Something clicked, both literally and figuratively, and before I knew it, I was photographing music festivals and live shows from the pit. My work was featured on festival websites and sites, including SF Examiner and Spinning Platters.

Fast forward to 2014: I picked up a drone for the first time and knew, almost immediately, that I had found my true calling. What started out as a hobby quickly grew into a career. I started out with my own column in Drone360 Magazine, worked PR for Flying Robot International Film Festival and have done so much more since then. Overall, I’m a Part 107-certificated remote pilot and I’ve worked on aerial photo and video projects for tourism boards, universities, major brands, and more. My work has been featured in places like CNN, Fortune, the Detroit News, and DigitalFOTO. I’ve also had the honor of contributing to the book Masters of Drone Photography.
But this site isn’t only about what I’ve done, it’s about what we can do together
I’ll be using this blog to address the questions I get from friends, clients, or forum posts I come across online. Expect everything from beginner drone tips to advanced photo and video workflows, plus insight into how I approach my projects. I might even throw in a little stargazing and aurora chasing from time to time (because who says we have to stick to one genre?).

At its core, this space is about building more than my personal brand. I want to make it helpful. It’s intended to be a hub for connecting with fellow creators, drone enthusiasts, and visual storytellers. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to level up your skills, I hope you’ll find something here that inspires you.
Thanks for stopping by. Let’s make this fun.
